「身体をどう扱うかは社会問題に直結する」という考えを主軸に、ソマティクスと田舎暮らしをベースに活動している。これまで、マウイ島、京都、岐阜、沖縄、埼玉といった場所に移住し、その地域で時には働きながらリサーチし、作品を制作してきた。

その背景には、一時的なレジデンスのみならず、アーティストが地域（特に文化資源が少ないとされる日本の田舎）で中長期的に滞在し、経済的な面も含めて、いかに自立した活動が可能かということを模索したい、という考えがある。その土地で人が身体をどう扱うかを観察し、舞台芸術として再発見し、地域の人と共有していくことで、田舎から生まれる、地産地消の芸術活動の未来を描きたいと考え、活動している。

2020年からは埼玉県比企郡滑川町に移住し、自宅を住み開きして福祉、農業など地域の様々な営みと連携して活動しており、関東一沼が多い同地域の文化を暮らしながら継承するアート民宿『ため池も作品！芸術家たちのプライベート沼美術館』を準備中。

Artist, researcher, writer, and antiquarian bookstore owner.  He has an ambition to create transitions in urban life by disseminating the appeal of Japan's local environmental culture. While studying landscape conservation in mountain villages as a doctoral student at Kyoto University's Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, he joined PONDALIZE 2022 because of the potential of art to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, traditional knowledge, and modern life. He has created a series of short stories "Hiki-Hills Song Line", which is based on the oral culture of the Australian aborigines and interweaves people and creatures, and is continuing with 2023.​​

Interpreter of plant fragrances. Using the power of fragrance messages received from essential oils, the bounty of plants, she specializes in coming up with interesting schemes that tickle the

senses. With her experience in supporting the promotion of corporate sustainability, she is committed to leaving no one behind, from soil microorganisms to artificial intelligence, to wrap the world in love.

Mojca Zupančič (keys, voice) and Tisa World (voice, objects, flutes) are longtime co-creators, actively performing at home in Slovenia and abroad, most often in the formation of a duo, which sporadically expands into larger ensembles.

Genre-wise, they span beyond electronic ambient music, contemporary improvisation, cabaret and inspired, intuitive poetry. They perform with a great deal of theatricality and liveliness, as well as frank realism, with which they appeal to that within humans that is common to us all.

The interplay of Tisa and Mojca calls towards the multiplicity of potentiality and magic-like experience. Their compositions are windows into the stories of the world, the inner depths of a dance between imagination and reality.

In 2023 they are composing their musical debut, an album in which they will expand their contemporary sound by exploring folk tradition and sounds from their surroundings, nature and daily life. 

Their compositions will be inspired by their native Slovenian environment, and then later on placed and expanded into the new context of Japan, where they will spend two months in autumn as residents at CreativePowerGarage101, exploring the satoyama environment, the swamp, and nature, as well as the culture there. 

They will do this through the means of sound: creating, composing, and performing works on the themes of culture, history, tradition and entertainment related to the swamp. They will lead workshops for the local participants and perform in collaboration with local performers.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Having lived in various countries is now based in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from Southern Cross University and is currently completing a TAFE (Technical and Further Education) Diploma of Ceramics.

Her practice is conceptual, minimalist and experimental and centers on immersive multimedia installation, slow projects that take years of research and can have a series of iterations. Research topics include the life and work of late cultural figures such as the German Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon and the Icelandic author Halldór Laxness. More interested in stripping and removing than on adding decoration, her ceramic production consists of mostly slip cast, unglazed white porcelain. 

Concerned with the excessive use of the planet’s resources she uses and reuses discarded found objects. 

With an early background in dance and theater, and training in Somatic Education -Salomon is an accredited practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method- she is interested in bringing her movement practice into the space of the gallery. As an activation of her most recent solo exhibition she was able to offer a Somatic Education lesson to gallery visitors with encouraging results. She has exhibited widely in regional NSW and twice in Iceland

Motoko Honda is a critically acclaimed Japanese concert pianist, composer, and sound artist who has created a distinctive sound through her holistic approach to music, and her exceptional sensitivity in relating to other art forms and technologies. Employing a "virtuoso technique paired with her intensely imaginative mind" (Susan Dirende, L.A. Splash Magazine), and with stylistic

influences ranging from jazz, world music to contemporary prepared piano with electronics, Motoko's compositions and structured improvisations are intended to affect the skin, organs and minds of the listener rather than simple recitations of rhythmic and harmonic themes. Portrayed as a "keyboard alchemist" (Chris Barton, L.A. Times), and an "embodiment of a muse" (Greg Burk, Metaljazz), Motoko's performances transport audiences on sonic adventures that transcend the boundaries and conventions of contemporary music.

Motoko has performed and recorded with many acclaimed improvisers such as Wadada Leo Smith, Elliott Sharp, Nels Cline, Mike Watt, Ben Wendel, Lucas Ligeti, William Winant and more.

Creative Garage 101では本田が日本の文化を再発見し、日本人アーティストのコラボや、自然と関わる田舎生活からの音楽作成に集中する中、ソマッジは本田の制作サポートと共に日本語、日本食文化、そして埼玉県の酒文化の研究を行う予定である。

スイス、ルガノ市出身、カリフォルニア州、オークランド市在住。世界の最先端のジャズ音楽プレゼンターとして２０年以上活動、２００８年にはNPO Angel City Arts を創設し、現在はエグゼクティブディレクターである。また、長年のレストランターとしての経験も踏まえて飲食エンスージアスト、コンサルタントとしても著名である。

２０歳で渡米、分析哲学を勉強した後、1998年に２７歳という若さで初のジャズクラブ・レストラン”Rocco”をロサンゼルスのベルエアにオープン。質の高いジャズ音楽と食事、ワインを樽から直接提供するなど、斬新なワインプログラムで成功し、セレブレティーと音楽家が集るレストランとして有名になった。その後もジャズコンサートプロデュースをクラブメトロポール、ロイヤルT、Bule Whaleなどロサンゼルス各地で開催、LAマガジンは”ロッコ・ソマッジがブッキングを担当する場所がロサンゼルスで最高のジャズクラブである”と記載する他、様々な記事で音楽の質の高さを最優先したブッキング性が讃えられ、Anthony Braxton、Freddie Hubbard、Dianne Reeves、Pharoah Sanders、Bill Frisell 等、数多くの著名なジャズ音楽家との仕事を続けてきた。現在では毎年３－４週間に渡ってロサンゼルスの様々な場所でジャズコンサートを開催するAnglel City Jazz Festival をプロデュースを中心に活動。そして妻であり、音楽家である本田素子と世界中を駆け巡っている。

暗闇のささやき：ヒキコモリと自然 

学際的なアーティストであるロヤ・ジバは、ファウンドオブジェクト、繊維、粘土、写真、パフォーマンスアートを取り入れたミクストメディアのインスタレーションを目指し、日本の滑川で大規模なリサーチと展示に取り組みます。また、このプロジェクトでは、池の環境から現地で録音されたフィールドレコーディングを使用したオリジナルのサウンドコンポジションを採用し、没入感のある多感な体験を作り出します。

最近の日本政府の調査で、150万人以上が家に閉じこもって生活していることが明らかになったことを受け、ジバはすぐにこれは自分ごとだと感じました。孤立者やヒキコモリと呼ばれるこれらの人々は、少なくとも6カ月間社会から隔絶しており、中には寝室から外に出ることがほとんどない人もいます。この現象は以前から注目されていましたが、昨年11月に政府の子ども家庭局が実施した調査で報告されたように、Covid-19の大流行によって悪化した課題は、懸念を強めています。彼女は、個人的な経験のストレスを通してヒキコモリに共感し、アートを通してこの複雑なテーマに光を当てようとしています。彼女の作品は、社会不安、うつ病、仕事のプレッシャー、いじめなど、ヒキコモリを誘発する要因を探ることを目的としています。 

日本語では、「ヒキ」は「内側に引き込む」、「コモリ」は「閉じ込められる」「隠れる」を意味し、「コウモリ」として知られる空飛ぶ哺乳類も連想させます。彼女の作品は、人生の難局を乗り切るための動物の回復力と適応力を描いています。特にコウモリは、ジバの作品において深い意味を持っています。現在、コウモリのシンボロジーに魅了されている彼女は、子どもの頃、傷ついたコウモリを助け、抱きかかえ、危険な道から導くためのコミュニケーションを学んだときの関係を鮮明に覚えています。

日本では、コウモリをはじめとする地元の生き物の生態学的研究に取り組み、滑川町の池の水系に重要な役割を果たしていることに焦点を当てます。また、日本の民間伝承に広く見られる超自然的な存在や霊の一種である妖怪など、日本の古代神話を探求します。自然、神話、個人的な経験を絡めることで、自分や他人の中にあるこの文化的現象を考察する作品を作ることを目指しています。ジバは、自然との深い関係や友情、自然がもたらす変容的な治癒力、静寂、避難所などを強調することで、観客にインスピレーションを与えたいと考えています。

+++ Whispers in the Dark: Hikikomori and Nature 

Interdisciplinary artist Roya Ziba will be working on extensive research and exhibition in Namegawa, Japan, aiming to create a mixed-media installation that incorporates found objects, fiber, clay, photography, and performance art. The project will also feature an original sonic composition using local field recordings from the pond environment, creating an immersive and multisensory experience.

Responding to a recent government survey in Japan that revealed over 1.5 million individuals leading reclusive lives confined to their homes, Ziba felt an immediate connection. Known as "hikikomori", loners or shut-ins, these individuals have been isolated for at least six months, with some rarely venturing beyond the boundaries of their bedrooms. It's a phenomenon that has gained attention over the years, but the challenges exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic have intensified concerns, as reported by the government's Children and Families Agency in a survey conducted last November. Through the stress of personal experience, she relates to the hikikomori and seeks to shed light on this complex subject through art. Her work aims to explore the factors that can trigger hikikomori, including social anxiety, depression, work pressure, and bullying.  

In Japanese, the word “hiki” means to pull inward while “komori” means “being confined” or “being hidden” and also carries a second meaning for the flying mammal known as the “bat”. Her work draws upon the resilience and adaptability of animals to navigate life's challenges. Bats, in particular, carry a profound significance in Ziba’s work. Now fascinated by their symbology, she vividly remembers the relationship she felt as a child, rescuing an injured bat, holding it and learning to communicate with them to guide them from harm's way. 

In Japan, she will delve into the ecological study of bats and other local creatures to focus on their vital contributions to the pond system in the village of Namegawa and explore the country's ancient mythologies, such as the Yokai, a class of supernatural entities and spirits prevalent in Japanese folklore. By intertwining nature, myth, and personal experiences, she aims to create art that examines this cultural phenomenon within herself and others. Ziba hopes to inspire audiences by highlighting the profound relationships and friendships we can forge with nature, as well as the transformative healing power, serenity, and refuge it offers.
